What Animals Can Teach Us About LoveJune 18, 2021
We can learn a lot from our pets. From the emotional bonds they form with us humans to the relationships they have with other animals, our furry friends can offer deep insights into the true nature of ourselves and bring extraordinary meaning to every aspect of our lives. Read on as we explore what animals can teach us about love.
Love is unconditional
Whether you just got promoted, gained ten pounds during COVID, or went through a painful breakup, our pets love us without strings or conditions. The relationship between humans and pets is influenced by the very behaviors that are essential to the health and well-being of both – physical wellness, emotional comfort, and affection. Think about how happy your animal is to see you upon returning from a long outing. Pets love unconditionally and without judgement. Through their gentle spirits and kind hearts, we can learn from the way animals love and apply it to the love we show the world.
Love is forgiving
Pets can suffer both physically and emotionally, whether we leave them alone for too long, ignore them, or accidentally step on their paw. But unlike humans, animals are quick to forgive and forget. They can move on from discomfort with ease and grace. The more we can emulate their behavior and apply it to our own relationships with friends, co-workers, neighbors, or family members, the happier we will be in the long run. So, take your cue from your dog or cat, live in the now, and try not to hold grudges.
Love is loyal
Anyone who owns a dog knows there is a reason why they are called “man’s best friend.” Dogs are dependently loyal to their human family or surrogate pack. Dogs will follow, play, or defend their pack without hesitation or question. This is a valuable lesson from which we can all benefit – show respect and loyalty to our fellow humans and treat others how we would like to be treated.
Love is existential
Animals, both domestic and wild, can offer an intriguing perspective about the complexities between nature and humans. This can lead to a greater awareness about ourselves, each other, and the world around us. Perhaps the reason we feel that animals can touch our souls is because they have souls themselves. Much of their decision making is driven by an intuitive connection and an inner wisdom we as humans tend to ignore. The combination of their senses and overall energetic “read” allows them to stay rooted in the heart and body as opposed to the mind and intellect. Animals are in direct alignment with the Universal collective, where love is the guiding force behind all of existence. We can learn so much from an animal’s spiritual connection to the Universe.
Now that you understand how we can learn from the love of animals, try applying these lessons in your own life. Look at it as an opportunity to create more unity, peace, and harmony with the world around you.
