Traumatic experience can come in almost all forms. Life events you have experienced that traumatizes you, or leaves you with a long term negative impression on an individual can be considered traumatic, and should be treated as traumatic.
What is Trauma?
Trauma is a distressing event in which a person feels severely threatened emotionally, psychologically, or physically. Almost all people will experience a traumatic event at some point in their lives. Many people experience trauma from certain events such as: car accidents, abuse or neglect, the sudden death of a loved one, war, natural disasters and more. Oftentimes people will recover from traumatic events over time especially if they have support from family and friends, sometimes though, trauma is hard to discuss and it may be easier to to look for support, guidance and assistance of a mental health professional to help you with deep emotional pain, fear, confusion, or post traumatic stress. This makes trauma therapy a crucial element of trauma recovery.
Trauma recovery counseling can help anyone who has experienced a traumatic event. Every person experiences events differently, and we understand it’s unfair to try and group everyone suffering from the effects of trauma into one category. I take the time to get to know my patients and understand each patient’s emotional or psychological needs, learning about their traumatic experiences.
