The Magic of Oneness: Moving Beyond Duality Toward Unconditional LoveJuly 28, 2021
We live in a world of duality – good and bad, dark and light, up and down. While dualism is very much a human construct created by the ego (the conscious mind) to help bring a sense of order to the world, it creates a separateness between the mind, body, and spirit. However, aligning our inner and outer world moves us away from duality towards a place of unconditional love for ourselves and those around us, where we feel connected and complete. This is known as the magic of Oneness.
Duality and the ego
Duality is the quality or state of having two different or opposite parts or elements. The conscious mind uses duality to help order the three-dimensional world – the world we experience with our senses – in a way that makes sense to us. This ordering can be detrimental to our spiritual selves as it creates separation from our soul’s true purpose. Moreover, by living in a state of Oneness, we transcend duality and the ego, connecting with ourselves and one another on a higher level of consciousness.
How the outer world reflects the inner world
We often think of our outer world as a mirror for our inner world only as it relates to how we treat others.
When you take a closer look at this concept, we realize our outer world mirrors back how we treat ourselves. If we see ourselves as unintelligent, the world reflects back situations where we feel unintelligent. Our thoughts, actions, and behaviors are fueled by the beliefs we have about ourselves. However, balancing the duality between the outer and inner world brings us one step closer to Oneness. Our outer worlds can be nourished with choices of joy, gratitude, generosity, and forgiveness.
Achieving Oneness through mindful awareness
In a state of Oneness, there is no concept of time. There is no past about which to feel sad or guilty, and there is no future about which to feel anxious or worried. Past and future are duality. Living in a state of Oneness is about the totality of the experience, not the passage of time. There is only the present moment. Some tools to help you achieve mindfulness include deep meditation, reflection, journaling, affirmations, and taking care of your physical body with regular exercise, a healthy diet, plenty of water, and deep, restorative sleep.
Oneness through alignment
By now, you understand how changes to your outer world begin with changing your inner world. You have the power to control your thoughts and overcome certain situations. You can align your inner and outer world through unconditional love, gratitude, joy, and thoughtfulness for yourself and those around you.
Finally, remember to breathe and be kind to yourself. Contrast is a part of the human experience. But Oneness is the key to reconciling this dualistic world and living a far more relaxed and joyful life.
